Story of SPARK
It all began in January 2024 with an electrifying 10-day “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp” at Lovely Professional University (LPU), powered by a collaboration with PUM and led by the visionary Mr. Mick Walvisch. This immersive workshop brought together a dynamic group of ambitious students, each driven by a shared desire to create change and transcend limitations. For over eight hours a day, we ignited our collective aspirations and forged an unbreakable community.
Yet, as we dove deeper into our projects, a stark reality emerged: a disconnect between the wealth of resources available at the university and the students who desperately needed them. Despite LPU’s abundant support options, many remained untapped, hidden behind a veil of unawareness and a lack of cohesive connections. This revelation sparked the creation of SPARK: the Student Platform for Accelerating Resourceful Knowledge. Our mission was crystal clear: to build a community where resources were not just accessible but also empowering, enabling every student to thrive.
What began as a mere idea has rapidly transformed into a powerful movement. Overcoming initial hurdles, SPARK has evolved, fueled by a passionate and dedicated team. Our mission is threefold: to provide academic enrichment, entrepreneurial support, and skill-building opportunities. We host vibrant academic competitions, organize a wide array of technical and non-technical events, and connect budding entrepreneurs with mentors. We weave a robust network linking students to industry professionals, alumni, and peers, creating a rich tapestry of support and opportunity.
As our reputation grew, SPARK caught the attention of universities beyond LPU. Other institutions began reaching out, eager to join our initiative. Under Mick's guidance, we cultivated a dynamic alumni network dedicated to mentoring new members, ensuring that knowledge and support flow seamlessly through generations. Our reach expanded as we partnered with other student clubs and organizations, amplifying our ability to offer students unparalleled platforms and resources.
Together, we are breaking barriers and fostering a vibrant culture of innovation, collaboration, and personal development across the academic landscape. Today, SPARK stands as a beacon of what a well-connected, resourceful community can achieve, empowering students to turn their visions into reality and create a lasting impact.
